Fourteen

Flash is getting to my head so I'm letting my brain breathe with bad music and blogging.
So the weekend of the 18th, 19th and 20th saw us recording 3 tracks at Audio Ransom studios up in JHB with friend/hero Staab from Conqueror/The Dead Will Tell.
We recorded Leeches, Prisons and Nervous Wreck, all of which we've been playing in our live set at recent shows. The recordings are (finally) going to be actually put to use this time and will be on the first ever official GGB release, a 3 track split with Conqueror due out late 2009/early 2010. It's been a insanely long time coming so thanks for all the patience. When we have more info we will update as such.
Otherwise the other big news in GGB land is, of course, the Lionheart tour which see's us playing with New Found Disorder, Reason To Live, Crossingpoint, Conqueror and of course Bay area hardcore band, Lionheart at Burn nightclub on the 27th of November. Entrance is something stupid like R40 so anyone into good heavy music pull in.
Lastly, of late we've somewhat slowed down our gigging of late for valid reasons. Basically we've been writing and working on new songs over the past few months and although we're definitely making progress we've still got a way to go if we want to have an albums worth of material! So if you're wondering what the fuck is up with ole GGB, it's probably that we're arguing in a room somewhere in Queensburgh whether that riff is good enough. Our confirmed show list for the rest of the year is pretty much only the Burn show on the 27th and then for 2010 it's The Camp festival up in Jagfontein. When the split with Conqueror comes out we'll definitely be doing a tour down Cape Town/PE/JHB/Bloem way but since nothing is confirmed I don't want to mention dates, etc. Our biggest focus right now is to write the best stuff we can possibly write and then start demo'ing and figuring out the recording process, once that's all done we'll be back on the gig horse in the blink of an eye.

Anyway this bad music is now starting to hurt me so keep young and hopeless.

Luke.

Thirteen

Ok, so, you know how we said a whole bunch a while ago about recording stuff and an album and all that nonsense?

Well, it's still a load of nonsense. We're not recording an album yet.

We ARE, however, making the familiar trek to Joburg on Thursday to start recording for our split release with thrash-metalers Conqueror.

Expect darkness, and a whole host of new inside jokes.

Also, if you don't already know, we're playing this Wednesday with Crossingpoint and Show and Tell at the trusty Winston pub. 20 bucks sees you through the door.

Bring your party pants.

Twelve.

So we're working on new shit at the moment and it's pretty funny but the typical stuff that bands say is honestly coming into play, softer stuff is softer and the heavier stuff is definitely heavier. We're stoked though and that's pretty much all that matters, we've always been a band that has done things our way so this is no different.
All this song writing is indeed ultimately for an album (thheeee allllbum) which one day may be recorded and released, one day...but at the moment we're stoked to say that we're definitely writing and working on 3 tracks for a split with our newest favouritest hardcore band, Conqueror. If you enjoy No Warning/Entombed/Slowed up thrash seriously go check em out.

At the moment we've got four tracks that we're working on, 2 oldish ones, 1 newish one and 1 we've literally just wrote. It's getting to the time to pick and choose whats exactly going onto our side of the split so arguments are bound to be a plenty in the GGB camp. In the mean time, we've made a made it possible for you guys to download Machines so go do that if you keen to have it jamming out on your iTunes/Winamp/Whatever.
Finally we've got some cool plans/ideas in the pipe-line for GGB so we'll update you guys on those when (or if) they come into play.

Later.

Luke.

Eleven

The last two days have been totally indescribable. Fuck, words cannot express how we feel this morning. Our bodies are beat and throats are absolutely keeshed after moshing our tits off, but mentally we haven't felt so good in a long time (James is practically in a comatose state after getting horribly hammered, and has to clean up after himself when he wakes, so I can imagine he doesn't feel amazing, haha.)

But yeah, getting on the road again in an hour or so to head back to Durbania, and then it's the beach club on Saturday with HH and SW, which is gonna be off the chain, promise.

Big up to Ash for organising this tour, Nem for putting up us for the 10000000 time, and HH and SW for putting on the most incredible shows we've seen, EVAR.

PUMPED

TEN

Alright, so in about an hour or so we'll be on the road to the big shitty that is Joburg, well, Pretoria specifically. These past few days have been insanely stressful (car's out of order, shows, etc) so we're really pumped to just blow off some steam and lose our fucking shit. Shows, moshing and smoking en drinking are about to ensue. If you happen to come across we're going to be raging fucking hard so join us and go crazy in whats going to be one mad ass week.
STOKED.

Yo

This post has been a long time coming, but i guess better late than never.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of being guided through Warwick Junction in the centre of Durban by Richard Dobson. Richard has just recently published a book entitled "Working In Warwick". He has spent many years researching, and very much living the area and its people.
Last Saturday he volunteered his time to take interested parties on a walkabout through the various informal market places. The tour was aimed at bringing attention to the proposed developments which would see drastic changes in the area. I'm sure we're all well aware of the "Market vs mall" debate by now (if not then you should be) but what was unique about Richard's tour was that it showed in detail exactly what the changes are going to be, and exactly how they will impact the area, both socially and geographically.
He showed us the area for the proposed taxi rank and altered roads (which would leave little room for foot traffic), the Early Morning Market, once thriving and now bare thanks to Sutcliffe's divide and conquer (ala apartheid) intimidation tactics, and other spots in between.
He has said that he's more than happy to take individual tours if people were to get hold of him. I urge people to do so. The important issue here is understanding, something the city has failed to do. What's wrong with this development is not that it is development, but rather that it ignores the very delicate and intricate balance which has arisen there over the years. In order to do something we must first understand it. What better way to do this than to actually spend time in the area.

Funny photo for all of yous who might read this blog

In other news, G!G!B is getting SUPER amped for our tour next week with HH and SW!!

We kick it off on Wednesday in PTA at Schivas rock, then JHB at Cool Runnings on Thursday. We're missing the Bloem show on Friday, but be there if you're in the area. Then Saturday we rockin hometown vibes at the Beach Club, then we're back up in Joburg for Anchor Fest on Sunday.

We're all insanely excited, and can't believe that we get to play so many shows with these two awesome bands.

Hope to see all the hometown cats at the beachclub. Gonna be a typical old-school Durban show. Get your dance on for the Mizers and THOTS, then mosh your TITS off.

Ok, at work and bored as fuck.

Perhaps it's a good time to let people know what's going on in G!G!B land.

We're in the process of writing new material, so hopefully we'll have a brand spanking new set in the not so distant future (weather, beer, popo, and petrol permitting).

Last night we pretty much finished a new one, which just needs some lyrics, so ya'll might get a taster of new beginnings when HH and SW grace our barren shores.

(I keep referring to "you", and "ya'll" and I have no idea who that might be, if anyone. It's making me feel kinda awkward).

The new direction is simpler, faster, angrier, but also happier, more melodious, and amping (somehow).

Aside: check out this band and their blog. Fuckin great.

Monday sucks. But after a weekend like this last one, I'm not complaining. Just check that photo.

Big ups to Chrissy and Luke Muller, Skye, and the dudes who wanted to fuck me up for making it a banger. Seriously.

Friday night: Show at Burn, followed by a 21st.

Left behind one garden chair at the bottom of the pool, plus a beer tub that thought it was a boat. Also, a few minor cuts and bruises and a birthday girl in tears. Thanks for the beer by the way.

After this it was off to Chris's with acquired booze in tow (two six packs and bottles of assorted mix. whoever's beer it was, i'm sorry, get hold of me and i'll buy you some more).

After telling some girl that she fellated some guy i was confronted by a pair of collared shirts looking for a scuffle. After some light strangling and a fist to the face the situation was diffused. Drinking ensued followed by attempted poohs on the lawn and hard spooning. (more beer tubs doing boat impressions as well).

Saturday morning rung in to the sweet sound of "dude your car almost got stolen, it's cool, it's down the road", so the morning was spent in the company of the popo.

Saturday night: Tom got fucked.

Never before has a hardcore band given such props to the police, who had earlier kicked down a metal fence and pistol whipped some dude for making his girlfriend scream (and not in a nice way).

We had a great show though, so thanks to everyone who came out and supported and gave us your love. We love u guys much.

Thankfully Tom made it home alive (special thanks to Ryan for being is chaffeur)

All in all a great weekend.

/thread.

Awesome HC band Ruiner are in the process of recording their new album "Hell is Empty".

When Bridge Nine asked for a photo, this is what they got.

Pretty funny.
